/ world today news/ China strongly opposes US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s call to the WHO to invite Taiwan to participate in this year’s World Health Assembly as an observer, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at today’s press conference.
“Taiwan’s participation in activities of international organizations, including the WHO, should be based on the principle of ‘one China,'” he stressed.
“The US side’s call misleads public opinion and represents support for separatist forces in Taiwan. We call on the US to stop fomenting tensions over the Taiwan issue through the World Health Assembly. Any attempt to use Taiwan as a trump card and contain China is doomed to fail,” Wang Wenbin also said.
