Graham Potter disagrees with Mikel Obi, calls this star

Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter believes Mikel Obi is wrong in his assessment of one of the Blues’ key players.

Indeed, he defended Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, calling him “world class” despite the criticism he has faced this season.

Sanchez has been under the spotlight, particularly after former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi questioned whether he has what it takes to help the team win the Premier League title.

Speaking on the ObiOne podcast, Mikel Obi said: “No disrespect to Robert Sanchez, he is a fantastic goalkeeper, but we need a top goalkeeper to compete for the Premier League.

If he wants to become a top goalkeeper, he needs to start putting in these performances”.

However, Potter, who worked with Sanchez during his disappointing spell at Chelsea, believes the goalkeeper is an exceptional talent.

Speaking to the BBC, he praised Sanchez’s impressive skills, saying: “Its premium stocks are world class.

He has the power, the size, the agility, the speed, he just makes the goal look really, really small”.

Graham Potter also highlighted Sanchez’s incredible reflexes, adding: “ It pulls objects out of the air effortlessly. So it doesn’t surprise me”.

It is a timely vote of confidence for Sanchez, who established himself as Chelsea’s No.1 goalkeeper under Enzo Maresca, before the summer signing of Filip Jorgensen.
