After last night, a new setback for Asylum Minister Faber: the House of Representatives wants her to reconsider her intention to place return signs at asylum seeker centers. A majority of the House, including NSC and JA21, voted in favor of a proposal from the CDA to dismiss Faber.

Came a week ago via RTL News it was revealed that Faber wanted to place signs at asylum seekers’ centers with a text such as “We are working on your return here”. The minister is said to have gotten that idea during a visit to Denmark, although the signs are not to be found there at all.

The message had to appear on the signs in “several languages”, Minister Faber said last week. She denied that she only suggested the plan to get attention, and that ultimately nothing would come of it. “Just assume that something will come of it,” she said on Friday.

CDA leader Bontenbal, who submitted the motion today, states that there is a need “for structural measures to gain more control over migration”. As far as he is concerned, the return signs are not included.
