Great start to the group stage for FC Twente, who defeated the Scottish champions, Celtic FC, in Glasgow, by zero to two.
It was a competitive match. Glasgow started better by dominating the ball and commanding. But the Netherlands team players soon reacted.
On the brink of half-time, Carleer decided to send a deep lob from his half for Kayleigh van Dooren to run towards. This young but experienced midfielder, born in the town of Veldhoven, had no problems reaching the ball. After controlling the ball with a light touch, he made a subtle attempt against which goalkeeper Daugherty could do nothing.
Second part
After the advantage acquired in the first period, Twente settled into the match with more security, although Celtic also had scoring opportunities.
The Scots advanced the line in search of an equalizer and risked more. Despite this, it was Twente who were able to score the second goal through Andradóttir.
Precisely, the Icelandic soccer player created the play for the second and final goal. With five minutes left, he entered with speed from the right flank and crossed into the Celtic six-yard box. There, Kayleigh van Dooren did not forgive and shot the Scottish goalkeeper at point-blank range. Time was running against the home team and, finally, Twente took the lead and the three points for the Netherlands.
The next day, Celtic FC Glasgow will visit Real Madrid on Thursday the 17th at 6:45 p.m. That same day, but at 9:00 p.m., Twente will host Chelsea with the lead at stake.
