/ world today news/ The director of the National History Museum, Bozhidar Dimitrov, has filed a lawsuit against the self-proclaimed “heirs” of the Panagyur treasure, he announced.
Descendants of the Dejkov family have been asking the court to recognize them as heirs and to collect as personal property the treasure that was allegedly illegally seized by the state. It was opened in 1949 by an entire bricklayer’s brigade of 11 people, and the state paid the prize to all of them, the head of the museum explained.
“Two or three of the Deykov family have been discrediting the museum workers since 1949, because they suggest that the Panagyur treasure has been replaced. And it is practically impossible to make an exact copy of gold with the same dimensions, weight and shapes, since we do not know the technology. This is also shown by the attempt two years ago to make 2 copies of the Panagyur treasure by the best Bulgarian teams. They simply could not repeat the ancient technologies,” Dimitrov reported.
He already has physical evidence to confirm the authenticity of the Panagyur treasure and to disprove the lie of the so-called heirs that it is replaced by a copy.
A broken part of one of the rhytons was found – a fragment that never left Plovdiv to travel the world. “The piece is from the wing of a mythical animal on one of the rhytons. If its composition is identical to the gold from the rest of the hoard, it will undoubtedly be the original. A licensed Austrian company took 33 samples of the gold. On Monday, the results of 31 samples were ready, which show the complete identity of the broken part with the entire Panagyur treasure. The remaining two samples will be ready by Friday,” said Dimitrov.
Then he will file a lawsuit against the “heirs” for damaged prestige, financial damages and psychological harassment of the NIM people. “And the state must react, because it presents itself with the treasure abroad and it comes out that in 1965 it lied to others, and in April it will lie to France as well, since the treasure is going to the Louvre,” said the head of the NIM.
