Lionel Messi is investing in the world of perfume.

By dint of competing on the green rectangle, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo no longer let each other go, even beyond football. In the world of business too, they have common interests which place them in competition: textiles, hotels, drinks, or now the world of perfume which the Portuguese has been exploiting for several years already, via its derivative products, CR7 .

For Messi, this is something new. The Argentinian has just launched “Messi the fragrances”, an eau de parfum sold online, on the eponymous site. “Inspired by the man who is much more than just a football icon, this fragrance captures the essence of Messi’s humble yet powerful personality. It is an olfactory journey that reflects the many facets of a legend, designed to evoke the hidden strengths and quiet confidence that reside within each of us. A fragrance that tells a story far beyond what we see,” says the product presentation sheet.

Several business projects over the last few months

Lionel Messi has joined forces in this new adventure with the expertise of DSM-Firmenich, a specialist in chemistry, olfactory and nutritional products. The process of creating the first Messi-branded perfume took twelve months of work. At the twilight of his long and rich sporting career, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner multiplies his business projects. Over the last six months, he has notably created his own brand of hydrating drink and has recently launched his audiovisual production company.
