Taxi drivers have three weeks to stick the relevant signage for the POS. As reported by the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE), starting tomorrow, October 9, 2024, the three-week deadline that taxi drivers have to place on the rear right window of their vehicles the special stickers, which inform consumers, begins to count on the obligation to accept payment cards by motorists.
In her hands the stickers POE
Their Panhellenic Federation (POEIATA) received today, October 8, 2024, all of the stickers, thus giving the go-ahead to the drivers to collect and stick the relevant markings.
It is reminded that, in case of not affixing the sticker, a fine of one thousand (1,000) euros is provided.
The Ministry of Finance proceeded to tighten the process and deadlines for placing special signs inside taxis with which professionals will inform citizens of the obligation to accept payments also through POS, after the refusal of taxi professionals to implement the measure.
These signs were produced by AADE, at zero cost to taxi owners and meet the specifications of the corresponding markings installed on taxis in many other European cities (Barcelona, Stockholm, Budapest, Madrid, etc.).
The Hatzidakis message
The Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis had declared among other things that: “No one is above the law! Taxi representatives were required to receive and then distribute special signage informing customers of the obligation to also accept payments via POS. The refusal to receive the markings – which were provided free of charge for the taxi professionals by AADE – practically means a refusal to apply the legislation”.
