First match of LeBron & son Bronny! Wojnarowski’s successor has been chosen! | BASKETS update

LeBron and Bronny made history. Shams Charania also succeeds Adrian Wojnarowski at ESPN. All news in the update.

New NBA Insider for ESPN

Star reporter Shams Charania is moving to ESPN and succeeding his former mentor Adrian Wojnarowski. “I am honored to join ESPN as a Senior NBA Insider. “I can’t wait to join an incredible group of colleagues at ESPN and serve sports audiences around the world,” the 30-year-old wrote on Instagram. Wojnarowski recently announced his retirement from the media industry.

Charania also looks back on six amazing years at The Athletic and Stadium. With his new commitment to ESPN, a dream has now come true. The deal makes the 30-year-old the station’s youngest news director.

LeBron and Bronny make history

LeBron James and his son Bronny were on the floor together for the first time in the preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. This makes them the first father-son duo in NBA history. Lakers coach JJ Redick is honored to be part of history. The 39-year-old explained that the fact that both of them would play together was simply surreal.

LeBron collected a total of 19 points in the 114:118 defeat, Bronny came away empty-handed, but at least got two rebounds. “It’s such a crazy feeling training with my dad and competing at a high level. I feel like it has made me a stronger person,” he explained after the first training sessions together.

LeBron also enjoys working with his son. “It’s a pure joy to work hard with him every day and watch him continue to grow,” said the 39-year-old at the Lakers’ Media Day. “We push each other. He pushes me, I push him, we push our teammates and vice versa,” he added.

Magic keep top performers

The Orlando Magic have extended Wendell Carter Jr.’s contract by three years. As Shams Charania reports, the center will earn $59 million during this time. Carter is now under contract in Orlando until the 2027/28 season, although he has a player option for the following season.

The 25-year-old, who came from the Chicago Bulls via trade in 2021, has developed into an important cornerstone for the Magic. Last year he put up almost eleven points with around seven rebounds per game.

By extending Carter, Orlando is keeping its core together for the long term. Previously, Moritz Wagner and Goga Bitadze signed new contracts in the offseason, while Franz Wagner received an extension with maximum pay. In the near future, the next key player, Paolo Banchero, will be tied down on a long-term basis.

Fiebich and Sabally in the finals

The New York Liberty around the two German national players Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally are in the WNBA finals. The team prevailed 3-1 against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces in the best of five mode. The team won the decisive game confidently with 76:62.

Leonie Fiebich made a good impression with eleven points in 25 minutes, Nyara Sabally was not used. The player of the day was Sabrina Ionescu, who was New York’s best scorer with 22 points and put her team on the road to victory.

For Las Vegas, where MVP A’ja Wilson scored 19 points, the dream of a third title in a row ends. In the final, New York will now face either the Minnesota Lynx or the Connecticut Sun.
