The third edition of “Legends of the Pantheon” 2024 in Hermosillo will begin on October 11 in the capital of Sonora, with various tours around andl Pantheon Yáñez, famous for being the site that houses multiple stories of the afterlife in the city, with the company of The Catrina.

One of the best known legends of Yanez Pantheon is that of “Child Carlitos”. This story tells that a desperate man went to the pantheon looking for peace of mind, when he found the grave of a boy named Carlitos. Moved by faith or despair, the man left a letter with his requests on the boy’s grave, and soon after, his problems began to be resolved. This situation gave rise to the belief that Carlitos had the power to grant miracles.

According to the popular story, Carlitos was an 11-year-old boy who died tragically in January 1940, after an accident in the Municipal Market. Since then, his grave has been visited by people seeking divine favors, leaving offerings such as toys and treats in his honor.

Among the tombs of the Yáñez Pantheon, two red crosses stand out, which belong to José Rosario Don Juan Zamarripa and Francisco Ruiz Corrales, the last men to be executed by firing squad in Sonora in 1957. Both were convicted of heinous crimes: Zamarripa was accused of kidnapping and murdering a baby, while Ruiz Corrales was convicted of the murder of a 9-year-old girl, a well-known case. as “The Tomato Girl.”
