In Rennes, protesters want to demonstrate against holding a real estate sale

This is “THE” mass for real estate experts in Rennes. Thursday October 10 and Friday October 11, the Real Estate Union is organizing its annual conference at the Couvents des Jacobins.

In total, more than 500 professionals are expected in these two days to discuss the rebound in the sector. A number of political figures such as Valérie Létard, new Minister of Housing and Urban Renewal, Nathalie Appéré, mayor of Rennes and Annaïg Le Meur, MP of Finistère will also be present.

If the debates promise to be informative inside the building, the atmosphere seems to be a little more heated outside. On Instagram, activists launched a call to gather at Place Sainte-Anne on Thursday at 6pm to show their hostility to this event. “Should we let them play Monopoly with our lives and do nothing? », questions the AG Logement group that accuses real estate professionals of participating in speculation about the increase in the rental market and taking advantage of the housing crisis.

Forwarded by several other groups on social networks such as AG Rennes 2 or AG Antifa Rennes, the call to rally did not escape the scrutiny of the authorities. “We are aware, and we will be aware of what may happen,” the National Police reveals. If fear of public order is established, a prefectural ban on demonstrations could be decided in the coming days. When contacted, the show’s organizers did not want to comment.
