Many of us use WhatsApp every day to stay in touch with other people and to exchange ideas with them on a regular basis.

There is a practical broadcast function with which we can not only update several contacts at the same time – we can also use it to find out who actually saved our cell phone number.

This is how it works with Apple devices:
Using the broadcast feature, you can not only send a message to multiple contacts at the same time, but also see who has you in their WhatsApp contact list. With these steps it’s very easy:
- In WhatsApp you will find the “Broadcasts” option in “Chats” at the top left of the screen. Click on it and then tap “New List”.
- Under “Recipients,” select one of your contacts who you know has saved your phone number.
- Now add another contact to the list who you would like to know whether they have your number.
- Tap Create in the top right bar. Your broadcast will now be created on WhatsApp and a corresponding chat page will open.
- Write a test message and send it to the people you have already selected.
- Allow 2 to 3 hours to give contacts enough time to read the message you sent. You can then check the status of your message using the info button. More on this below.
- If your contact is listed under “Read by”, it appears that they have actually saved your cell phone number. However, if the person appears under “Delivered to,” then they most likely don’t have you in their contact list and therefore won’t be able to see your message.
Note when Check the message you sent shows that some people are rarely active on WhatsApp. They may then need longer to read a message than others.
Here’s how to do it with Android devices:
If you have an Android device, you can find out who has saved you in his or her contact list with these eight easy steps:
- Open WhatsApp and under “Chats” click on the three dots at the top right of the screen.
- In the drop-down menu, select “New Broadcast,” which should now open a list of your contacts.
- Select at least one of your contacts who you know has saved your phone number.
- Now add other contacts that you would like to know whether they also have your number.
- Tap on that Check mark im green circle in the bottom right corner. Now a broadcast is created and the associated chat page opens.
- Write a test message and send it to the contacts you have already selected – simply click on the send button.
- Allow two to three hours to give people enough time to read your message. Then you can use the Info-Button the Status your sent message check. More on this below.
- If your contact is listed under “Read by,” they appear to have saved your cell phone number. However, if the person appears under “Delivered to,” then they most likely don’t have you in their contact list and won’t be able to see your message.
This is how you find out if and when your WhatsApp message has been read
You’ve probably noticed the checkmarks at the bottom right of a message on WhatsApp: They symbolize whether your message has been received by the recipient and read. You can find out what the meaning of the colors of the WhatsApp hooks are here. However, if you want to find out exactly when your message was delivered and read, you can actually do that using the info button. We’ll tell you how this works below.
For Apple devices, there are two ways you can find out the message info on WhatsApp:
- Swipe your sent message from right to left to see when it was sent by the other person person delivered and was read.
- Alternatively, tap the relevant message and wait for a message to appear Pop-up-Menü appears. Under the Option “Info” you can now find out when the message was received and seen.
If you have an Android device, you have to tap the message you sent and hold it until a menu pops up. Click on the three dots and then tap “Info” at the top right of the screen. Now you can see if and when your message was received and read.
Remember that in private chats, this information can only be viewed if the contact has it Read receipt activated. In group chats and broadcasts, however, you can find out the information from all recipients.
