Osasuna breaks Barça’s undefeated record with a 4-2 win

Madrid., Surprise in Navarra: Osasuna won 4-2 against leader FC Barcelona this Saturday, on matchday 8 of the League, a result that represents the Blaugranas’ first defeat in the Spanish championship this season.

With 21 points, Barça is guaranteed to finish the date as leader, but its pursuer Real Madrid (2nd, 17 points) could come within just one point of its biggest rival in the event of victory on Sunday in the Madrid derby against Atlético de Madrid (3rd, 15 points).

The locals shook up the eleven full of substitutes presented by Hansi Flick thanks to a great performance by Bryan Zaragoza, who assisted the Croatian Ante Budimir (18) before brilliantly resolving a face-to-face against Iñaki Peña (28).

For the Malaga player, Barça is becoming his favorite victim: in October 2023, when Bryan Zaragoza was playing for Granada, he already scored a double against Barcelona in a match that ended 2-2.

But on Saturday the Blaugrana club could not even be satisfied with the draw, despite a goal by Pau Víctor (53), which slipped through the hands of goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

With half an hour left (59), Flick brought on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, who started from the bench to have a rest before a week with the Champions League, but hopes of a draw or comeback diminished after a foul committed in the area by Sergi Domínguez and punished with a penalty by Budimir (72).

Abel Bretones finished off the win with a powerful shot from the edge of the area (85) and Yamal responded for FC Barcelona (89, 4-2) with a great goal that only served to cover up the defeat.

After this setback in the domestic championship, FC Barcelona will face the Swiss Young Boys in the Champions League, a rival against whom they can make up for the result in Navarra and the erratic start to the European campaign, with a 2-1 defeat in Monaco.

In the rest of the matches played on Saturday, Real Sociedad (12th) added the second victory of the season by beating Valencia 3-0, which is still in relegation positions (18th) with a double from the Icelandic striker Orri Oskarsson (80 , 90+2).

Getafe (15th) also won against Deportivo Alavés (9th) 2-0, while Rayo Vallecano (8th) and Leganés (17th) tied 1-1.
