Final of the new Club World Cup will be played in New Jersey

The Club World Cup final that will premiere in 2025 will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (New Jersey), located on the outskirts of New York, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced this Saturday.

This field for 82,500 spectators, home of the New York Jets and Giants of the American Football League (NFL), is the same one that will host the final of the 2026 World Cup that the United States will organize together with its neighbors Mexico and Canada.

During a public event in New York, Infantino announced the 12 venues for the new Club World Cup, which will take place between June 15 and July 13, 2025 with the participation of 32 teams.

In addition to Metlife Stadium, nine other stadiums are located in the eastern part of the United States: Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (Florida), Camping World Stadium and Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando (Florida), Audi Field (Washington, DC), Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (Georgia), Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte (North Carolina), Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), TQL Stadium in Cincinnati (Ohio) and GEODIS Park in Nashville (Tennessee).

The West Coast will host games at the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena (California), site of the 1994 World Cup final, and at Lumen Field, the home field of the Seattle Sounders, one of the participating teams.

The Club World Cup is held in parallel with the Gold Cup, Concacaf’s main national team tournament, which will take place mainly on fields on the American West Coast.

The competition, whose draw will take place in December, has already confirmed 30 of the 32 participating teams.

Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are among the 12 European teams qualified while River Plate and Boca Juniors from Argentina and Flamengo from Brazil are part of the six South American teams.

“This new FIFA competition is the only real example in global club football of true solidarity and inclusion, allowing the best teams from Africa, Asia, Central and North America and Oceania to take on the powers of Europe and South America in a new and incredible World Cup that will have a huge impact on the growth of club football and talent around the world,” said Infantino.

The tournament is considered a key test leading up to the 2026 World Cup after serious security incidents that occurred in July at the Charlotte and Miami stadiums during Copa América matches.
