SYRIZA: The date of the Conference is changing – 2024-10-07 05:21:06

The road map to the SYRIZA elections was overturned on Saturday morning (5/10).

As it became known, the extraordinary Congress of the party, which was scheduled to be held from November 1 to 3, is to be postponed by one week. The highest body will now convene on the 8-10th of the month.

Its competence is to approve or reject nominations for the presidency.

The decision on the time transfer was taken by a majority of the members of the Political Secretariat that met in an emergency in the morning to settle the organizational issue that arose unexpectedly.

As informed by party sources, the plan for the elections that remain on November 24 and December 1 (if a second round is needed) will not be affected. Also, the nomination file must be submitted by 10/24.

On the contrary, the election of delegates will take place on November 2-3, with the registration of members who will have the right to participate in this process being completed on 10/25.

Theodora Tzakri did not consent to the modification of the original design. All in all, the “cashier” bloc does not agree with the “change of terms” as it was said, implying that the process is being manipulated.

The extraordinary meeting of the governing body involved the meeting of the Central Committee of SYRIZA which was scheduled to start at 11:00.

First – first is Gletsos

Among the first to appear at the central hotel in Athens was Apostolos Gletsos, who has expressed his intention to submit a candidacy to take over the leadership.

After 11:15, when the short session of the PG ended, the top executives started to appear, such as Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, Olga Gerovasili and Kostas Zachariadis.

The Central Committee will discuss the new proposal of the Political Secretariat.
