The general director of the Municipal Health Institute (Imusa), José Murguía Magaña, announced that a little more than eight thousand vaccines against influenza and COVID would be requested from the Federation, since in at least two months, the cold season is expected to worsen. .
The municipal official determined that work has been done to ensure that mainly the elderly and children are immunized, who are the ones most at risk when presenting respiratory diseases during this season.
Finally, he commented that the ideal would be to vaccinate just over 450,000 citizens, which would represent 50 percent of the city’s total population, which is why he indicated that they will be attentive to request more if necessary.
“Yes, we have already planned to request a total of eight thousand vaccines from the federation, to reach the population that has the most problems with respiratory diseases and thanks to the support from the State Government, another sector will be covered and with this, we will have faster advances, remember that we estimate that there are 450 thousand people throughout Morelia who need some influenza or COVID vaccine,” he commented.
Note that currently 50 percent of the patients treated at the institute have some respiratory disease, which could generate complications with the two viruses mentioned.
