Report from the match West Ham United – Ipswich Town: statistics, report

Julen Lopetegui celebrated his first Premier League home win as West Ham manager with a 4-1 win over newcomers Ipswich. The match was spiced up by Jarrod Bowen’s accurate shot from outside the penalty area, and thanks to it, West Ham claimed their second league win of the season. Tomáš Souček also gave a quality performance for Kladivář, who played the entire match. Vladimír Coufal remained on the bench.

In London, the fans witnessed a wild start, as after 48 seconds and a low cross from Bowen, Michail Antonio made his mark. The Hammers’ dream start was thwarted by Ipswich’s most productive player this season, Liam Delap, who fired a right-footed shot past goalkeeper Alphonse Areola after a corner kick.

Both teams continued to create chances. Jacob Greaves headed wide and at the other end Mohammed Kudus sent the ball over the goal with the same technique. The next hit did not come until the 44th minute. Antonio scored the first goal, his attempt ended up on the crossbar, but he perfectly placed the falling ball into the Kudus net.

Shortly after halftime came the moment of the match. The visiting goalkeeper Arijanet Murič found only Bowen with her kick, who leveled the ball on his stronger right leg and sent it into the net with an incredible racket. Ipswich finally put Lucas Paquetá down in the 69th minute, when he got a great chance after a quick interplay by the home side. With his first goal of the season, he increased the difference to three goals and the Hammers did not allow any complications on the way to victory.
