Only one preseason game took place last night. But this one was even more special!
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors
The two teams from California met in Honululu, Hawaii, in front of 10,300 spectators. The Warriors were without Andrew Wiggins in the game, while the Clippers are still missing Kawhi Leonard due to injury.
Without the forward and Paul George, who left in the summer, the team’s offense was entirely in the hands of James Harden (13 points, 8 assists). The guard demonstrated his skills early on by being directly involved in 15 of his team’s 26 points in the first quarter. The Harden team went into the first quarter break with +3.
The Warriors only got better into the game in the second quarter, also because superstar Stephen Curry increasingly took the offensive reins into his own hands. Support was received from wingers De’Anthony Melton (8 points, 3/7 FG) and Moses Moody (12 points, 4/9 FG). The latter scored two three-pointers late in the second half, which gave the Warriors a small cushion for the first time. Golden State went into the locker room with a score of 49:53.
In the second half, both teams rotated well, as befits a preseason game. The Warriors should have had 19 players on the floor at the end of the game. One of them, Lindy Water III. knew how to make particularly good use of his time. In the final quarter, which was still tight, the newcomer scored four of his five three-pointers (5/7 3PT).
The NBA preseason really gets going starting this Sunday. A total of five games are on the program from 4 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Here is an overview of the games:
