The twilight of Rafael Nadal’s career is getting closer and closer. The Spanish legend with twenty-two Grand Slam titles has not played since his doubles defeat at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, i.e. since July 31. His presence at the Davis Cup is expected but the Spanish coach, David Ferrer, first wants him to play a tournament.

A return of Nadal?
Since July 31, Rafael Nadal no longer set foot on the tennis courts. The Majorcan was to participate in the Laver Cuptournament which had witnessed the last match in the immense career of Roger Federer in 2022. Everyone thought then that it would be the same for Nadal but in the end, he forfeited. His return to the field is long overdue even if Spain should participate in the exhibition tournament of Six Kings Slam…

In comments reported by We Love Tennis, David Ferrerthe team captain from Spainput pressure on Rafael Nadal before the Coupe Davis : « I have no doubt that if he is well and I see him training properly, he will play singles. When the draw was made, I sent him a message to tell him to get ready to play against Botic Van de Zandschulp (Spain faces the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, editor’s note). His response was clear: ‘I will be ready.’ I know he is going to compete in the Six Kings Slam exhibition this month and I would like him to compete in another tournament before joining the team. I will discuss this with him in the coming weeks. »
