When McDonald’s introduced the Chicken Big Mac to the UK, the sandwich sold out within 10 days. Now it seems that the chain is hoping for similar success in the United States, especially in the face of declining sales.
According to CNN, from October 10, the Big Mac with chicken will be sold for a limited time in McDonald’s locations in the United States – instead of two burgers, there will be two pieces of tempura chicken. Plus the signature Big Mac sauce, pickles, shredded lettuce and a slice of cheese.
McDonald’s is celebrating adding more chicken to its menu, which is generally cheaper than beef. CEO Chris Kempczinski said at the earnings presentation that he aims to add “chicken-like growth factors” in an effort to stop declining sales, CNN wrote.
The Chicken Big Mac has appeared briefly in the US before: in 2022, McDonald’s released it as an experiment in some restaurants in Miami to gather feedback from consumers.
Fast food restaurants are fighting for customers with lower budgets
US fast food chains are fighting for the money of customers who don’t go out as often, and when they do, they spend less, causing fast food sales to slow and restaurant traffic drops. As a result, companies released new products and special promotions to increase sales.
McDonald’s $5 meal deal (about PLN 20) on the menu until December to attract customers with a limited budget.
