My favorite story and screenplay is from that Mammootty movie: Srinivasan

Mazhayethum Paalape was a film written by Srinivasan and directed by Kamal. Mammootty played the lead role in this 1995 film. And Shobhana, Annie and Srinivasan played the lead roles.

Mammootty played the role of a college professor named Nandakumar in the film. Srinivasan won the State Award for Best Screenplay for the film, which starred Shobhana as Uma Maheshwari and Annie as Shruti.

Srinivasan says Before the Rain is his favorite of the films he wrote the story and screenplay for. He says that he is not a big seeker of awards and never thought of making a film for an award. Srinivasan was speaking in an interview given to One Two Talks.

“I will think for a fortnight and tell you which is my favorite story and screenplay in my films. I have been thinking for a whole year to write a picture. And yet it took me two weeks to answer this question (laughter).

I am not a big prize seeker. Have you ever thought of making a film for an award? But the first time I got an award in writing was for the screenplay of the movie Mazha Yethut Pavebe.

Shobhana, Anna and Mammootty have acted in the film. I was involved too. The film was shot in Palakkad and directed by Kamal. This film was the result of hard work.

But after receiving the award, we came to know about such an event. Later I felt that this film could have won an award or two. Because there were some methods used. Srinivasan said that every scene was done with meticulous thought.
