On Friday before noon, the draw for the 3rd round of the MOL Cup 2024/2025 took place at the headquarters of the Football Association of the Czech Republic. Defending champions Sparta Prague will play at home with Zbrojovka Brno.
The draw was made by cup competition ambassador Jan Koller and former Slavia Prague midfielder Ivo Ulich. The latter won the domestic cup competition three times – in 1995 with Hradec Králové, in 1997 and 1999 with Slavia Prague. Koller was part of Sparta’s team when they won the cup in 1996, the former Czech international only played a few minutes.
Participants in European club competitions AC Sparta Praha, SK Slavia Praha, FK Mladá Boleslav, FC Viktoria Plzeň and FC Baník Ostrava will also take part in the third round.
On the other hand, first league Karviná, which was eliminated in the previous round by Kroměříž, did not reach the third round. And Kroměříž will challenge Slovácko in the third round at home.
Slavia Prague will travel to Venice nad Jizerou in the third round. Last year’s finalist Viktoria Plzeň will travel to Ústí nad Labem, and defending champions Sparta Praha will welcome Zbrojovka Brno on their home field.
The last drawn pair will also offer a spicy duel, as it will be a duel between South Bohemian rivals Táborsk and České Budějovice. The official playing date of the third round is 30 October 2024. The exact dates of the times and telecasts will be published on molcup.cz.
