The Copa Libertadores already have a stadium to play the 2024 final

After evaluating the Libertadores de América Stadium of the Atlético Independiente Club, the Diego Armando Maradona and the River Plate Monument, The latter was selected for the final of La Copa Libertadores 2024, one of the most iconic levels of South American football and located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The decision was made on February 12 and until this Friday, October 4, it was announced by the Confederation of South America.

The monument has a capacity for more than 84 thousand fans, with modern infrastructure it is the biggest stadium in Argentina and South America. Built in 1938, it has hosted important events such as the Soccer World Cup in 1978, two Copa América and seven Libertadores finals.

The new champion who will achieve eternal glory will be announced on November 30, box office information will be released in the coming weeks.

The Continental Championship is in the semi-final stage which will be played as follows:

The first leg:

  • Atlético Mineiro vs. River Plate / October 22, 7:30 p.m

Arena Stadium in Belo Horizonte.

  • Botafogo vs. Peñarol / October 23, 7:30 p.m

Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The second leg:

  • River Plate vs. Atlético Mineiro / October 29, 7:30 p.m

Memorial Stadium in Buenos Aires.

  • Penarol vs. Botafogo / October 30, 7:30 p.m

Champion of the Century Stadium, in Montevideo.

The last five champions have been:

Flamengo – 2019 and 2022

Palmeiras – 2020 and 2021

Fluminense – 2023

The biggest winners are: Independiente (7 titles), Boca Juniors (6 titles), Peñarol (5), River Plate and Estudiantes de La Plata (4 each)
