The Tlaxcala health sector began a series of actions aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer, one of the most lethal in women. The key message: the importance of early detection, in order to improve the prognosis and survival of patients.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Breast cancer is a disease in which cells proliferate abnormally and uncontrolled in the breast tissue; It can occur in both women and men. In Mexico this cancer is the leading cause of death in women aged 25 and over.

A significant percentage of cancers can be cured by surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy, especially if they are detected at an early stage.
Every October 19the health sector of the entity through the Mexican Institute of Social Security, Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers and the state administration commemorates World Breast Cancer Day, one of the most frequent in women.

In this regard, The Ministry of Health (SSa) stressed that one of the elements to reduce the impact of the disease and quality of life of women is emotional support, as stated in the Official Mexican Standard NOM-041-SSA2-2011, for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, control and epidemiological surveillance of breast cancer.
He stated that In 2016, the National Women’s Institute published the document: Emotional support for women diagnosed with breast cancer, with the aim of people strengthening their skills to become certified and influencing access to opportunities.

He recognized that in 2017 alone, the mortality rate from breast cancer was 19.04 deaths per 100,000 women aged 25 years and older; while this indicator was 15.6 in 2005 and was 16.9 in 2010.
The importance of this condition is such that among women aged 20 and Furthermore, 16.3% of deaths from malignant tumors are due to breast cancer.
The SSa added that as age increases, the proportion of women who die from this cancer is greater, in 2016: 14.8 deaths per 100 thousand women aged 40 to 49, but it also harms the groups of 50 to 59 years and 60 to 69 years of age.
