250 Hezbollah fighters were killed in an Israeli army ground operation in southern Lebanon this week, the Israeli armed forces said on Friday.
“Within four days, 250 Hizbollah terrorists, 21 of them commanders, were killed in a detailed operation in southern Lebanon,” the statement said.
Since September 23, the Israeli army has been intensively bombing southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut in response to Hezbollah attacks on Israeli territory.
On October 1, Israel began ground operations in Lebanon.
Israel’s stated goal is to drive Hezbollah fighters from the border area so that the approximately 60,000 residents evacuated from northern Israel due to Hezbollah’s shelling can return home.
