Brothers Elias Aalto, 38, and Matias Pietilä, 41, are an experienced travel duo.
The brothers compete in the new season of the Amazing Race Suomi program Elias Aalto38, and Matias Pietilä41, have traveled together before. However, entrepreneur Elias Aalto, who became known as the founder of Wolt and the lion of the Leijona luola program, had his most shocking travel experience not from far away, but from Germany, which is familiar to many Finns.
– In Hamburg, we ended up in the spa department of a local hotel, which not only had mixed saunas but also mixed showers. It was a shock, Elias Aalto recalls at the press conference of the Amazing Race Suomi program.
In addition to the trip to Germany, the brothers have previously traveled together, for example on a Caribbean cruise.
Matias especially prepared for the three-and-a-half-week Amazing Race by training for walking and running on his back, and Elias had a real fitness regimen before the program: he trained three times a week with a personal trainer and lost weight. Previously, the 197-centimeter Elias weighed 108 kilograms.
– The training was certainly useful, but it was still not enough. I was able to drop like five kilos and a little more muscle. But Matias ran ten kilometers again. It would be absolutely impossible for me. I probably wouldn’t be able to run a distance longer than a kilometer, says Elias.

In addition to my brother’s running condition, there was another surprise on the trip.
– It also turned out that Matias is half-deaf. There it just pushed to go and I tried to run after, Elias laughs.
The brothers reveal that their wildest antics are not shown on TV.
– You won’t see these on TV, but we ran into the authorities several times, Elias reveals.
– We also had to talk to the police. We were surrounded by the police for about an hour, and we couldn’t get out of the situation, he continues.
Moving around with heavy backpacks was difficult.
– We’ve heard rumors that people didn’t necessarily have full backpacks in the first season. Our backpacks weighed 15 kilos, says Matias.
– We probably had the heaviest backpacks, when my wife got excited to buy me all kinds of things, says Elias.
The men’s luggage included, among other things, duct tape, hot glue and cable ties.
– Now, of course, we stress about how our messes look like after the operating table, Elias reflects.
– I just founded the company and now we’ll see if this program destroys my credibility right from the start, concludes engineer and usability expert Matias.
