From September 13, the Royal team focused on solving the problems with noise generated by their stadium. As they announced then, they are not planning any major events at the facility until April at least and are now working on finding a way to soundproof the facility.
The first step was to hire a company specializing in sound simulations to suggest potential changes to the stadium. For now, no solution guarantees 100% effectiveness, but further options are being explored. However, it seems that the structure of the building itself contains so many gaps and holes that it is simply impossible to completely soundproof it.
When it comes to finances, soundproofing any surface always costs money. In this case, we are talking about a stadium with a height of 60 meters and an area of over 10,000 square meters. Regardless of the solution, it will cost the Royals dearly.
Relief emphasizes that Real Madrid activists admit their mistake and accept their guilt. That’s why they themselves decided to suspend concerts, which they want to return to while complying with all regulations and laws. The city is ready to help meet the standards and the club is working with maximum intensity on this matter, but as the website indicates, the atmosphere is pessimistic for now.
Standing opposite are about 2,000 people associated with the association Poszkodowani by Bernabéu. These are the stadium’s neighbors who paid out of their own pockets for noise measurements during concerts and hired a law firm to completely eliminate the problem. Residents of this area emphasize that they want a total ban on organizing concerts at the stadium and do not intend to negotiate any settlement. Moreover, their goal is to ensure that only matches can be played at the stadium and even various types of fairs and exhibitions will not be permitted.
Of course, Real Madrid gives absolute priority to this matter, because the entire reconstruction project is based on the fact that the stadium will be open all year round, every day from morning to night for various types of events. That’s why the retractable turf and retractable roof were installed. Cooperation with the American company Legends, a leader in the event sector, was also initiated. Today, without a doubt, the Santiago Bernabéu is not fulfilling its main purpose.
Officially, the club announced that the three loans for the reconstruction of the stadium amounted to EUR 1.17 billion (575+225+370), the last installment is to be paid in November 2053, and the average interest rate on the entire operation is 3.2%. It was added that on December 31, 2023, the club already had all the loans taken out and that none of them was secured by club assets, but only by revenue guarantees regarding the new stadium. Adding interest, the cost of rebuilding the stadium will be approximately EUR 1.77 billion (EUR 1,771.5 million = 796.5+273+702). The average annual installment to be repaid will be EUR 66 million (the second loan has 26 installments, and the third one will be repaid additionally from 2049 to 2053). The terms of the loan are very good, but in order to repay it without any problems, additional revenues from the facility are needed. However, there won’t be any for now.
