Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner will come to Kreuzberg on October 28th for a discussion with citizens. As part of the “Kai Wegner on Site” series of discussions, the CDU politician wants to answer questions on topics such as education, urban development and social policy, as the Senate Chancellery announced.
The approximately two-hour event is planned from 5:30 p.m. in the Statthaus Böcklerpark on Prinzenstrasse. Senate Speaker Christine Richter will moderate the event. The participants should have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their concerns with the governing mayor.
Ongoing dispute over Görlitzer Park
The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district has a green district mayor, Clara Herrmann. The Senate and district are in constant dispute over Wegner’s announcement that he wants to build a fence around Görlitzer Park in order to combat drug crime there. The ideas between the Senate and the district often differ when it comes to transport policy.
Wegner has announced that he will visit all twelve districts of Berlin during his series of talks. The start was in April in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Registration is required to take part in each event.
