A Dutch man was arrested in Russia for beating a police officer. This is reported by various Russian media. It is said to have been a disagreement over a fallen traffic sign.

He is said to be 64-year-old Harry van W. He allegedly hit the officer in the face near Smolenskaya, a metro station in central Moscow.

Russian media wrote that W. tripped over a traffic sign, which he then kicked to vent his anger. When confronted by a police officer, he said he threw the punch. The Russian authorities have opened a criminal case.

American police still in custody

Last August, an American man was arrested in Moscow for assaulting a police officer. Shortly before that, it is said that he attacked the staff of the hotel where he was staying. First he was given a fifteen day prison sentence for ‘hooliganism’ because of what happened with the hotel staff.

Later, a new criminal case was opened for assaulting the police officer. He could be sentenced to up to five years in prison for this. The American is still in custody.
