/ world today news/ “I would prefer to fight for the presidency within a presidential republic and with a changed Constitution,” ABV chairman Georgi Parvanov told Nova TV, in connection with the upcoming candidate presidential elections.
“We already have one looming a large interesting coalition, centrist, center-left, center-right, with a patriotic accent, with left-wing formations. Of course, I don’t hide that there are 1, 2, 3 to 4 names in the talks, which are strong enough by themselves, especially if we make a good tandem,” Parvanov pointed out.
When asked if his name is among those mentioned as a presidential candidate, he replied: “It would be incorrect, as I claim to have a good coalition culture, to mention any names, because that would mean causing confusion in the negotiation process itself.”
“I’m talking about the leaders and representatives of parties who were yesterday. There was a fairly solid representation at this forum – VMRO, “Gergeovden”, the farmers, “Narodnik Union”. We are one team. DPS also, of course, cautiously joined this discussion. If not a team, then at least a one-way movement,” he added.
Parvanov drew an analogy with the year 2001, when the large “Coalition for Bulgaria” of 16 parties was created. “The issue is not the number of parties, but by creating something like this, you create the feeling that there is a consensus here,” commented Parvanov. According to him, if ABV selects enough convincing figures to nominate for president, the runoff will not be difficult to achieve.
- Comment by Petar Kichashki: There is a very precise word for this kind of coalitions – türlyugyuvech. Left, right, center, patriotic, omnivore. These types of coalitions have erased the boundaries between left and right and are one of the reasons for this chronic crisis in our politics. In politics, there must be principles and dividing lines between individual subjects. Because if nothing distinguishes parties and ideas from each other, then why do they exist at all? Parvanov and ABV can do whatever they want. Everyone has the right to drown as they wish. But, in my opinion, any formation that wants to survive after the upcoming elections should run away from such formats.
