Health festival at the Helios Clinic – offers for the whole family

Hünfeld (fp) – Medicine to get involved: There was a big program at the Helios St. Elisabeth Clinic in Hünfeld on Thursday. There was a lot on offer for young and old at the health festival. Among other things, lectures on medical topics took place, information and participation stands were set up and people were even allowed to carry out their own “operations” on dolls.

The health festival is actually made up of two events, reported Gudrun Käsmann, Head of Marketing, Communication and Technologies at the Helios St. Elisabeth Clinic Hünfeld: “On the one hand, ‘Open Doors with the Mouse’ is taking place today, and on the other hand, we’re doing it here in the The aim is to point out the clinic’s wide range of offerings, to provide information about medical topics and to take away people’s fear of contact, Käsmann continues: “Children in particular should get to know the hospital in a playful way.”

Culinary delicacies, ice cream and ambulance tours were offered in front of the entrance. The children were also able to have fun on a bouncy castle. On the ground floor of the facility there was a photo box and several information stands. On the first floor there was face painting, a stand teaching proper hand disinfection, and information on physiotherapy, cardiology, gastroenterology, ultrasound diagnostics and surgery. The special highlight was the operating room, where guests were able to carry out minimally invasive “interventions” on a mannequin. The aim was to carefully remove gummy bears from the “patient’s” stomach using drills. In addition, a large cuddly toy had to be sewn and transfusions were given.

In addition to this program, several lectures took place where those present were able to obtain additional information. Topics covered included first aid in pediatric emergencies, hammertoes and foot surgery, knee prostheses and hip arthrosis. “We made sure that there was something for the whole family, young to old,” emphasized Käsmann and then happily added: “I have already met families today where the children were there for Mouse Day, but Grandma and Grandpa were also there. So that’s been very well received.”
