How it happened

It all happened while they were filming the scene in which Smith and Tommy Lee Jones (his co-star) travel in a car that spins and moves along the roof of a tunnel, with both of them upside down. At the time of taking the shot, Smith was heard saying: “Oh, God, I’m so sorry. Tommy, I’m so sorry.“. For his part, Jones responded: “It’s okay, Will. Don’t worry, Will.”

The director, who until then did not understand what had happened, approached the actors and verified that the conversation was due to Smith’s flatulence, who could not contain himself. “You really don’t want to be inside a very small, tightly closed space with a Will Smith gas. […] We evacuated the scene for about three hours”Sonnenfeld recounted.
