René van Kooten will play the role of Rob de Nijs in the musical Trunk Babbe. This was announced on Wednesday by the producer MediaLane. The performance takes you into the life story and successful musical career of Rob de Nijs.
René van Kooten: “I have been able to play many beautiful roles in my career, but this is very special. I recently visited Rob and Jet de Nijs and it was very valuable to talk to them about their lives and this special musical. I am going into the making process with a lot of dedication and look forward to bringing Rob de Nijs’ rich career to life on stage together with the rest of the cast.”
It was recently announced that Lottie Hellingman and Maartje van de Wetering will alternate playing the role of Jet de Nijs in Trunk Babbe. Jet de Nijs said about this: “What a huge honor that these two fantastic actresses with great track records will play me in the musical. At the same time it feels unreal and I find it exciting to see myself on stage, played by someone else. .”
The Rob de Nijs musical
Trunk Babbe is a long-awaited musical about the music and successful career of Rob de Nijs. Based on true, meaningful moments from the singer’s life, the audience goes on a journey through his life. Rob de Nijs and his wife Jet are also closely involved in the production of the performance, in collaboration with Joop van den Ende. The tryouts start on January 22 and the premiere will follow on February 9 in Amsterdam.
