Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization, announced today that 28 health workers have been killed in Lebanon in the past 24 hours.
Ghebreyesus said that many other workers in the health sector “did not go to work and fled the areas where they work because of bombing operations.” “
“This severely limits what is available to respond to disasters and continue health care services,” he said in an online news release.
He pointed out that the agency “will not be able to deliver large shipments of medical supplies to Lebanon tomorrow, Friday, due to flight restrictions.”
