The police investigate the wife of the leader of Dayah in West Aceh regarding spraying chili water on Santri

WEST ACEH, KOMPAS.TV – The police of West Aceh are questioning a woman with the initials NN (40), the wife of the leader of one of the Dayahs in Pante Ceureumen District, West Aceh, regarding the alleged violence against a student of an Islamic boarding school 13- year.

NN allegedly poured chili water on the student as a form of punishment after the victim was caught smoking.

This case was made public after a video showing the victim’s condition went viral on social media.

The head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the West Aceh Police, Iptu Fachmi Suciandy, said that a report about this incident was submitted to the police on Tuesday afternoon (1/10/2024).

The police also called NN based on Police Report Number: LP/B/123/X/2024/SPKT/POLRES ACEH BARAT/Polda Aceh.

In the report, it was said that the victim was subjected to torture which included dousing him with chili water and shaving his hair as a form of punishment.

“We picked the accused in his house, and we are currently being investigated at the West Aceh Police Headquarters,” said Fachmi, Wednesday (2/10/2024), quoted from Serambinews.

Fachmi said that the Women and Children Services Unit (PPA) of the West Aceh police is currently investigating this case.

In addition, several witnesses were questioned for investigators to gather evidence.

“We are still asking for witness statements about this case,” he said.

If found guilty, NN may be subject to the Violence Against Children Article as regulated in Article 76.c in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2014 on Protection Children.

As a result of the acts of violence allegedly committed by NN the victim suffered great pain, especially in the part of the body that was exposed to the chili water.

The victim was taken in by his family after the incident and is currently being cared for by his grandmother.

Videos circulating on social media show the victim crying in pain while taking a bath.
