Max Bank was among the small banks, Banka Creditas among the medium-sized banks. After the merger, Banka Creditas has 250,000 clients and a balance sheet total of 200 billion crowns.

According to Banka Creditas, the merger of the two institutions is the culmination of the long-term strategy that was announced after the takeover of Max banka. After the merger, Max Bank’s clients were left with the same account numbers, the bank code will change. The original Max Bank code 4000 can be used simultaneously with the Banka Creditas 2250 code for another six months, after which only the new code will apply. Payment cards issued by Max Bank remained valid after the merger.

The process of merging the banks technically began on September 30, when the client systems of both banks were partially shut down and the Creditas Bank branches were closed earlier. However, the settings of services and products and their operation will not change for clients from October, Banka Creditas said.

Max banka has been active on the Czech market since 1991. It joined the network of banking houses called Expobank after the acquisition from the German LBBW in 2014. In 2022, Banka Creditas bought it and renamed it to its current name. After the acquisition, corporate clients were transferred to Banka Creditas, Max banka served only private clients.
