What documents should be attached to the application?
For parents with alternating care
Attach to your application a final court decision confirming alternating care.
For the actual guardian
If you are the actual guardian, please attach the following to your application:
- a certificate from the guardianship court or adoption center on the ongoing court proceedings regarding the adoption of a child – this certificate must include the date of submitting to the guardianship court a request to initiate proceedings regarding the adoption of a child and
- declaration on the date of acceptance of the child for upbringing.
For the legal guardian
If you are a legal guardian (i.e. you applied to the court for the adoption of a child and the court entrusted you with care until the adoption process is completed), attach to the application the decision of the guardianship court appointing you as the legal guardian of the child.
For a person providing foster care
If you provide foster care, i.e.: you are a foster parent, you run a family orphanage, you are the director of a care and education facility, a regional care and therapeutic facility or an intervention pre-adoption center
– attach to the application a certificate from the district family support center on placing the child in a foster family, a family children’s home, a care and education facility, a regional care and therapy facility or an intervention pre-adoption center, along with the date of placement in care.
When should I submit my application?
You can submit an application for an active nursery benefit at the earliest on the day on which your child starts attending a nursery or children’s club or is under the care of a day care provider.
If you apply:
- within 2 months from when the child started attending the facility – you will be entitled to the benefit from that date,
- within 3 months from October 1, 2024 (i.e. from the date of entry into force of the Act) – you will be entitled to the benefit from October 1, provided that the remaining conditions are met.
How will the benefit be paid?
The benefit paid actively in the nursery will be transferred by ZUS to the bank account of the entity that runs a nursery, a children’s club, or employs a daily caregiver or to the bank account of a self-employed daily caregiver by the 20th day of each month for the previous month.
The benefit does not require a decision. ZUS will transfer information about the granting of the benefit to your PUE ZUS account.
