At least one person was taken to hospital in a special fire department vehicle at Hamburg Central Station because of a possible serious infectious disease. A platform was closed for this purpose. The man was taken away in a so-called infection van, said a fire department spokesman. He had flu-like symptoms and was slightly nauseous. He didn’t have a fever.
Another fire brigade spokesman told “Bild” on site at the platform that two people were taken to hospital in a special fire brigade vehicle in the case. The two came from abroad and treated a patient “who is now proven to have an infectious disease,” said the spokesman for “Bild”. To what extent and whether the two became infected themselves is unclear.
The fire department used the special vehicle as a precaution and also to protect its own people, said the spokesman in the control center. According to the federal police, platform four in the main station was closed during the operation. But this has now been released again.
Those affected developed signs of illness on the way to Hamburg and were taken to a special clinic in a so-called infection van. This should be the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).
