Event details

The professional profile of professors is diverse: they pass on their knowledge from research and professional practice to students, implement their own project ideas and actively shape their university. The work is characterized by a high degree of independence and a lot of creative freedom. That sounds like a dream job. Nevertheless, there is not much knowledge about the job description, and even less about exactly what the requirements are for a professor and how the recruitment process works.

In the next five years, there are around 60 professors to be filled at the BHT, and around 100 more at the University of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) and the University of Technology and Economics (HTW Berlin).

As part of a collaborative event, the main women and equal opportunities representatives of the three universities, together with professors, want to introduce qualified young scientists to the university teaching profession and the path to a successful career to show them.

This means clarifying the following questions:

  • What qualification requirements must be met?
  • How does the application process work?
  • What are the responsibilities and freedoms associated with the professorship of a university of applied sciences?
  • What does practical knowledge mean?
  • How important are university teaching skills?
