The deployment of the multinational brigade, according to him, “will become a concrete contribution of the country in strengthening the defense and deterrent power of the alliance, as well as in regional security and stability.”
As noted in the announcement of the Ministry of National Defense of the country, he also announced that Romania is conducting negotiations with Bulgaria and Turkey with the aim of adopting additional measures to strengthen defense and security in the Black Sea area with an emphasis on the Navy and Air Force. .
With these measures, Romania seeks to achieve increased coordination with the NATO activity already carried out in recent years through air policing, the alliance’s naval exercises and the presence of NATO ships in the area,” the document states.
Earlier it became known that NATO plans to deploy a multinational brigade in neighboring Romania, along with the four battalions of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which will be deployed in the Baltic republics and Poland.
This was announced by the secretary general of the pact, Jens Stoltenberg, before the start of the meeting of defense ministers.
“We are planning to make a decision to expand our military presence in the Black Sea region. We have already increased air control and patrolling, as well as military training. We are also planning the creation of headquarters structures in Romania and the deployment of a multinational NATO brigade,” Stoltenberg also said.
