The production process of armored cars in the new plant of the International Armored Group (IAG) in Burgas will start at the beginning of next year. The owner of the international company, Dr. Atanas Stefov, shared this with reporters today.
The work process begins as soon as they receive the necessary documents – Act 15 and Act 16.
“At the base, the armored vehicles will be assembled as components. This is not an easy process because the calculations must be very precise. Companies around the world that produce similar equipment at this level can be counted on one’s fingers. So far we have made 160 machines for the Bulgarian army, which were delivered 2 years ago. They were retrofitted by another Bulgarian company, which handed them over to the army. We have no other orders for now” said Stefov.
He admitted that Bulgaria does not have the necessary workers who would start work immediately at the plant. Such have yet to be trained.
“The number of jobs in the plant in Burgas depends a lot on the amount of trained personnel. At the moment there are no such in Bulgaria and they must be created. We will work with Burgas schools and higher education institutions to prepare such specialists. They are not easily trained and must have at least 7 years of experience in the company to be able to construct. This does not mean we will wait 7 years. These personnel will work during this period with our specialists and thus gradually acquire knowledge. Fortunately, we are in very good relations with the Municipality of Burgas and the Mayor Dimitar Nikolov” Stefov explained.
The mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, said for his part that in order for this opening to happen, it was necessary to have a synchronicity between a motivated investor and a large number of state and municipal officials, convinced of the idea of creating a product and business here that carries authority.
“We took advantage of the municipal regulation for the promotion of investments. In addition to the enterprise itself, the accompanying infrastructure was also built. The new street is the beginning of a new industrial area. Soon, new businesses will spring up on vacant land here, creating jobs. Our partnership with International Armored Group (IAG) will not stop there. We are yet to work on creating dual classes in the city’s technological schools. There will also be a partnership with the High School of Computer Innovation and Robotics. Higher education institutions will also create manpower for the manufacturing base’ said the mayor.
