The Los Santos Rural Electrification Cooperative (Coopesantos) the launch of its initiative initiative “A timely checkup can save your life“, which will offer associates the opportunity to access free to ultrasounds, pap smears and prostate exams in order to raise awareness among the population about the importance of preventing these diseases that affect thousands of people around the world.
The medical sessions will be held during the weekends of October and November, and will be available to the inhabitants of the cantons of Dota, Tarrazú, León Cortés, Aserrí, Desamparados, Acosta, Mora, El Guarco and Central Cartago.
The manager of the cooperative, Mario Patricio Solís Solísnoted:
Cancer, unfortunately, does not discriminate. Detecting it in time is essential for the well-being of our associates and their families. Therefore, facilitating access to tests that allow diagnoses to be identified in their initial stages is part of the commitment that at Coopesantos we have with the population of our rural communities.”

Space is limited, with a total of 375 spaces available. People interested in scheduling an appointment can complete a form on the official Coopesantos Facebook or contact the Contact Center 2546-2525, where they will be provided with information about the date, place and time of the exam.
Breast and cervix tests are aimed at women between 30 and 40 years old.while the Prostate examination is recommended for men between the ages of 40 and 50.. In the event that a positive diagnosis or irregularity is detected, patients will be referred to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) for follow-up.
Coopesantos called on the population to take advantage of this opportunity, since early detection can make the difference between life and death. In addition, it is expected that men, especially, will be encouraged and lose their fear of undergoing prostate testing to detect alterations in a timely manner.
