Thirteen dead in a minibus accident in Guinea-Conakry – Jornal OPaís

Thirteen passengers on a minibus, including six children, died in Guinea-Conakry on Sunday when the vehicle fell into a river, the Government announced on Sunday night.

The accident, which happened near Kissidougou, in the south-east of the country, which borders Guinea-Bissau, left many people in hospital in the town, the Government said in a statement, cited by France – Press (AFP).

The first information collected by local authorities indicates that the accident was caused by the driver of the minibus falling asleep at the wheel, according to authorities.

Serious road accidents are frequent in Guinea-Conakry due to the deterioration of roads, poor condition of vehicles and careless driving by motorists. Distribution situation has become even more difficult due to the recent heavy rains.
