Mixed results for youth teams – FC Emmen

FC Emmen O21 had an unpleasant afternoon on Saturday. After last week’s great victory in Heerenveen, coach Marc Hegeman’s team lost 1-4 on home field to Quick Boys O21. FC Emmen O21 took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Stan van Manen shot in from close range from a good move by Chiel Sunder. Five minutes before half time, Quick Boys O21 came alongside through a rebound. A little later, captain Thom Bijkerk dropped out with an injury and both teams went to rest with a 1-1 score. FC Emmen O21 came out of the dressing room poorly and fell behind 1-2 three minutes after the break. The ball hit the spot after a foul by Mees Mink. The penalty was then hit. In the remainder of the second half, the people of Emmen looked for the equalizer, but no great opportunities came. The guests from Katwijk decided the match in the 91st minute with a counter, 1-3. A beautiful free kick even made it 1-4 in the 93rd minute.

FC Emmen O19 went down 1-0 when visiting Royal HFC O19. The team of coach Mika Eering had a lot of the ball in Haarlem, but sharpness was lacking in the finishing. The home team was mainly dangerous in transition. Soon in the second half, FC Emmen O19 fell behind 1-0. Royal HFC O19 took a free kick quickly and scored the opening goal. FC Emmen O19 then had a few great chances to score an equalizer, but unfortunately they did not materialize. The biggest opportunity was for D’Angelo Grootfaam, but his shot was also turned away by the goalkeeper of Royal HFC O19. For example, FC Emmen O19 returned to Emmen with a defeat.

FC Emmen O17 played a difficult match on home field against SML O17 but won. The team of coach Jordan Poeste was ultimately too strong for the Arnhem team with a score of 3-0. Thanks to a goal by Elyezel Kaburo, FC Emmen O17 took a 1-0 lead in the 4th minute. The ball tempo was too slow to quickly distance ourselves from the stiff SML O17. Just before half-time, Amadou Doumbouya made it 2-0. In the second half the spaces became somewhat larger, but great opportunities were not forthcoming. On the other hand, goalkeeper Jeremy van der Berg prevented the guests from coming back into the match with a good save. Moments later, Phreylicio Fidanque put the 3-0 final score on the scoreboard.

Leader FC Emmen O15 did good business on Saturday. A visit to number 2 PEC Zwolle O15 won 3-6. Thanks to goals from Rojani Laturette and Jayden Gopal, it was already 0-2 after 8 minutes of play. Despite the two early goals, FC Emmen O15 were under pressure, but they were well defended. The team of trainer Jeroen Dijkstra was also deadly effective. This resulted in two more goals before half time. Sem Alberda made the 0-3 and the 0-4 fell into the goal via a player from PEC Zwolle O15. In the second half, Sem Alberda scored twice more and scored a hat trick. PEC Zwolle O15 also scored twice, but the victory was no longer in danger.

FC Emmen O14 just keeps winning. The team of coach Harold Wekema was now 0-2 too strong for ATC’65 O14. Maarten Smit and Mohammed Saleh were accurate in Hengelo. Thanks to the victory, FC Emmen O14 is still clear with 15 points from 5 games.

FC Emmen O13 took one point in the away match at FC Groningen O13. The Under-13s fell behind twice in Groningen, but were also close to victory. After three minutes the Groningers took a 1-0 lead. Just under ten minutes later, Twan Stuiver made it 1-1 again. Just before half-time, FC Emmen O13 fell behind 2-1 after an unfortunate own goal. In the second half the match turned completely upside down and Joris Doornbos scored twice within two minutes, giving FC Emmen O13 a 2-3 lead. Unfortunately, the score was 3-3 five minutes before the end.

FC Emmen U12 in FC Emmen O11 play in the National Twin Games competition. FC Emmen O12 received the peers from SC Heerenveen, while FC Emmen O11 completed a four-way match in Anrhem against Vitesse O11, AZ O11 and NEC O11. In these age categories, individual development is paramount. The results of these competitions are therefore not published.
