The global personnel and remuneration indices (IGPERSE), which aggregate information from four sectors of the Mexican economy (manufacturing, construction, commerce and private non-financial services) and seek to reflect labor demand, reported a monthly stagnation in employment and a decrease in salaries during July 2024, revealed data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The Inegi estimated that the global index of employed personnel in economic sectors (IGPOSE) stood at 99 points in July, without variation in relation to June of this year, its second consecutive month without growth.
Inside, dependent personnel remained the same and non-dependent personnel grew 0.1 percent at a monthly rate. At an annual rate and with seasonally adjusted series, in July 2024, the IGPOSE decreased 0.6 percent.
In the reference month and with seasonally adjusted figures, the global remuneration index of economic sectors (IGRESE) was 110.5 points: it decreased, in real terms, 0.2 percent compared to last June. Compared to July of last year, salaries increased 2.8 percent.
In the seventh month of 2024, the global index of real average remunerations of economic sectors (IGREMSE) decreased 0.1 percent at a monthly rate and reached a level of 111.6 points. The IGREMSE rose 3.6 percent annually.
With original figures, the global index of employed personnel in economic sectors has been declining for seven months; That is, throughout the year it registers falls. In July it was the steepest at 0.6 percent. Meanwhile, salaries and real wages advanced 3.3 and 3.9 percent annually in July.
