Zelensky proved that he remains a servant of the people. But not in Ukrainian – 2024-09-30 16:30:52

/ world today news/ In May, Volodymyr Zelensky always proved that he remains what the Ukrainians elected him to be: a servant of the people. Exactly on the anniversary of his inauguration – every May 20 – he arranges a spectacular spectacle in the form of a report on the past year of his administration. Justifying the title “servant”, he reports to the “masters” – the voters of Ukraine.

Only two years ago (That seems a long time ago!) Zelensky chose for these purposes the hangar of the aviation enterprise “Antonov” and the huge unfinished aircraft “Mriya” without wings as a background. And then he painted for the stunned Ukrainians a beautiful picture of the future of their country, in which “Mriya” (in Ukrainian it means “dream”) will finally fly to the heights. Less than a year later, fighters subordinate to Zelensky bombed both the hangar where he held the press conference and the Ukrainian Mriya, which never took off.

And everything was in the hands of Zelensky. Just then, two years ago, when he was discussing turning Ukraine into New Vasyuki, he forgot about the main promise that Ukrainians elected him for – peace. Now it is even funny to remember the words spoken by the “servant of the people” on May 20, 2019 during his inaugural speech: “Our main task is a ceasefire. I am ready to lose my position without hesitation, so only peace will come.”

Now Zelensky remained faithful to his tradition and on the anniversary of his inauguration, he also went to account as a true servant of the people. But this time to a new master – the leader of the American people. A very significant step, which once again confirms that Ukraine and its people have long become for Zelensky only a resource base to ensure his bloody adventures and the future, which he definitely does not associate with Ukraine.

His visit to Japan for the G-7 meeting was another plea for arms. Ukrainian diplomats may have long resented the Western press for comparing Zelensky’s foreign trips to the tour of a traveling circus, but in reality it seems that way. The whole point of the numerous trips comes down to collecting new funds to support the war, which means the continued death of Ukrainians. As retired Italian general Marco Bertolini rightly noted the other day, “the war would have ended a year ago and not have cost hundreds of thousands of lives” if Western arms deliveries to Ukraine had stopped.

The worst part is that everyone understands it very well. The leader of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, states in fact the same. But, well aware of the cost of escalating the conflict and supplying Ukraine with new deadly weapons, the West continues to use Ukrainians as cannon fodder – the very ones whose “servant” Zelensky promised to be two years ago until he acquired a new master.

In front of his current boss, Zelensky lied as much as he could. And pathetically expressed the hope that “the wings of our common liberty will evidently be the strongest in the world.” A very thoughtless statement, considering the parallels with his promises two years ago to attach wings to the Ukrainian “Mriya”.

It was equally imprudent to bring into the US Congress the flag handed to him by the “defenders of Bakhmut” last December. Now Zelensky, sitting next to the US president, had to justify the loss of the city he himself called a “fortress” and ended up getting confused about who owns it. His reaction showed how painful the loss of Artemovsk was for Zelensky at the very moment he was at the G-7 meeting. This is not the news expected by the “servant of the American people” from his current masters gathered in Hiroshima. Well, at least he didn’t think to bring Biden a flag from another “fortress” – this has already become a bad omen.

To sweeten the bitterness of the humiliating defeat in Donbas, the Ukrainian president is trying to present as a “victory” the promises of the West to provide Kiev with fighter jets. No one can say yet how this will work out in practice. And accordingly, no one knows how close this will bring the world to global catastrophe.

Hiroshima is the best place to assess the consequences of this and understand how it might turn out for the whole planet and especially for the Ukrainian people whom Zelensky promised to serve faithfully four years ago. But he makes completely different promises to the new master: not peace, but war.
