Mishap in New York: Annalena Baerbock's sales break

It’s the worst case with high heels: the heel breaks when you walk. This is exactly what happened to Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. She shows humor with her reaction.

The heel killer has struck again. This is what the sidewalks in Manhattan are called. Your latest victim: Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (43). The Green Party politician, who has been criticized for high styling costs, is currently in the city that never sleeps for the UN General Assembly. One can only hope that Schumacher was still awake.

But how did the minister’s fashion faux pas come about?

Annalena Baerbock’s outfit mishap

Baerbock, whose difficult family history has been made public, was on her way to a meeting with Canadian Minister Mélanie Joly in a Manhattan cafe during the UN General Assembly when she was surprised by a small incident: the heel of her right shoe broke off. Nevertheless, Baerbock didn’t let that stop her and continued on her way despite the damaged shoe. No wonder: Because she can also play football in high heels.

Baerbock reacted to the situation in a relaxed manner and presented Joly with her burgundy-colored shoe with the broken heel. Joly, on the other hand, was better prepared and appeared in sneakers. Baerbock also showed humor on Instagram and commented on a picture of himself taken on the streets of New York with the words: “It’s good that we walked past a cobbler this morning.”

On this day of all days, the politician repeatedly highlighted her high heels in her Instagram stories. She showed her followers a close-up of her high heels because there was a small mini mouse figure standing on the zebra crossing. “It’s Mini-Mouse who greets us this morning.”

At a later meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Baerbock wore her familiar brown high heels. Luckily the paragraph was spared here. However, this wasn’t the first time her shoes gave out during one of her appointments. A similar incident occurred during a UN visit to New York in 2022. Also at the UN World Climate Conference in Dubai a year later.
