The Acli Salerno provincial council has been elected with confirmations and first appointments

Provincial council elected Acli Salerno between confirmations and new entries. The territorial assembly will be composed of: Andrea Bianchini, Elisabetta Caputo (first appointment), Giuseppina Caruso, Antonio Di Giovanni, Natalia Ferrara Spina, Domenico Fusco, Valerio Grosso, Gaetano Guariglia, Nicola Iuliano, Daniele Manzolillo, Francesco Marino, Antonio Mastellone, Gianluca Mastrovito, Eugenio Mastrovito, Giannantonio Mastrovito , Danell Nelson (first appointment), Giovanna Peduto, RafRafi Dorra, Fiorella Scarpa, Martino Torsiello, Antonella Venturiello, Silvio Verdevalle and Alfonso Boniello. Danell Nelson and Giovanna Peduto are also the youngest.

At the end of the conference proceedings which were held today (Saturday 28 September 2024) at Nautical Polothe over 40 delegates voted, assigning to the new council the traces shared with the reports of those who spoke starting from the theme of the day “The courage of peace”. In ten days the newly elected members will indicate the name of the president. Meanwhile, institutions, the Catholic world and lay associations have once again recognized the ACLI’s role as interlocutor in carrying forward the dialogue between communities necessary to build bridges of peace.

Dignity, work, rights, participation, family and peace were the topics addressed during the day, starting from the introductory report by Daniele Manzolillooutgoing provincial president. “On these issues on which the future of society will depend, we at ACLI want to be present and for this reason we invite everyone, first and foremost the Third Sector bodies of which we are part, to get involved, because we, despite 80 years of existence association, we want to continue to play an important role in caring for our communities – reiterated President Manzolillo – we want to be a stimulus and goad for political proposals towards the institutions, which often distance themselves from the care of everyday life”.

Emiliano Manfredonia, Acli national president, focused on the topic of Congresswhich saw a diverse and authoritative audience alternating at the speakers’ table throughout the morning: “I am proud of moments like this one in Salerno, which once again represents confirmation of how the ACLI manages to bring together the secular, Catholic, interreligious, political and institutional world. It is one of the characteristics of our Association that calls everyone to dialogue, to cultivate hope. I think that hope is a political category, if this driving force were not there, politics would be reduced to a personal question. The Acli have almost one million members throughout the national territory, together we can make an important change, to build a better world”.

Among those who spoke at the Congress was also the president of Campania region, Vincenzo De Luca. His was a targeted appeal “there are three battles that we must do together: against poverty, and the ACLI have always been committed to this front; the purchasing power of wages, which decreased by 6% even if employment grew, and against the differentiated autonomy, necessary to avoid splitting theItalia and to not have two completely different systems for public health and public schools. And then there is the battle for peace. We are witnessing a martyrdom in Palestinea Gazawhich can no longer be tolerated; those images of defenseless dead, of massacred civilian population, of mutilated children are intolerable. We must react to create a ceasefire. The conditions exist to stop this bloodbath, we must all get involved”.
