Tottenham achieved an exceptional result this Sunday (29/9) in the 6th round of the English Championship. After all, they went to Old Trafford, Manchester United’s home, and won 3-0. The goals came from Brennan Johnson, Kulusevski and Solanke. An undeniable triumph. The Londoners were superior almost all the time. And when United star Bruno Fernandes was sent off at the end of the first half (the game was 1-0), things became even easier for Spurs.
Thus, Tottenham reaches ten points and recovers in the table, but is still far from the leaders: it occupies eighth place. But United are only in 12th place, with seven points. Furthermore, you could still lose one more position at the end of the round.
Tottenham soon takes advantage
The game started with a goal in a sensational play. After two minutes, defender Micky van de Ven stole the ball from Rashford while still in his defense and went on the attack. Tottenham’s Dutchman advanced at high speed, winning four in the race and, on the baseline, he crossed for Brennan Johnson to tap into the empty goal. Johnson almost doubled it in the 20th minute, shooting at Onana’s right post. At that point in the game, Tottenham, even away from home, had 58% possession and three shots on goal, compared to zero from an apathetic United.
Only after 20 minutes did United start to appear in attack. Zirkzee forced Vicario to make a good save and, later, Garnacho hit the Spurs post. But the Londoners were still better. Timo Werner didn’t extend the game because of Onana’s great save. And, at 42, things got really complicated for United. Bruno Fernandes, trying to help with the marking, slipped and hit Maddison’s leg almost at knee height. Direct expulsion. Thus, the home team would have to play more than one half with ten on the field.

United beaten
What was expected for the second half, Tottenham dominant, happened. It soon increased to 2-0 after two minutes. Johnson took off on the right and crossed for Kulusevski to finish. It was easy. Onana avoided the third goal when he managed to make two saves in a row, blocking a shot from Timo Werner and muffling it when Solanke shot the ball. Every now and then United attacked, like a play in the 23rd when Casemiro (entered at half-time) appeared in the area and almost scored.
But Tottenham had plenty and, in the 28th minute, after a corner from the left, Sarr beat Casemiro, making the ball for the newly-signed Solanke to conclude: 3-0. And the striker is justifying the fortune (R$ 457 million) that the Londoners paid to the Bournemouth to have it. Anyway, beaten at home and with the rain getting worse, the United fans started to leave. The defeat was confirmed. But it was almost bigger: Solanke stopped at Onana and, when the ball was left, Sarr headed wide.
