Mexican Isaac del Toro, sixth in the U23 road world championship

Mexico City. With each tour, Isaac del Toro only increases his legacy. The Mexican finished in the top ten in the U23 road race of the Cycling World Championship in Zurich, Switzerland, after an extraordinary performance in which he only made a mistake by slowing down in the final stretch.

Del Toro remained among the first places in almost all of the 173.6 kilometers of route between Uster and Zurich, he was even looking to get on the podium but in the last journey he could not keep up the pace, perhaps due to lack of strength or poor strategy. Thus, the tricolor finished in sixth place, just 46 seconds behind German Niklas Behrens, who was the winner.

The great performance of the Mexican allowed him to be the best Latin American placed in the competition, while his compatriot Carlos Alfonso García stayed in 57th place, just one step above the also tricolor César Macías. Up to 65th place was the Colombian Mauricio Zapata.

In a race with complicated conditions, Niklas Behrens (3:57:24) took the champion’s rainbow jersey after a close final in which he beat the Slovenian Martin Svrcek, while the Belgian Alec Segaert was third.
