His supporters gave him 67.10 percent of the votes in the second round of the Senate elections. He led practically from the very beginning of the census and constantly increased his lead. After counting more than half of the total of 224 constituencies in the entire senate district, he was already leading with 66.44 percent of the votes cast. It was definitively counted already at half past four in the afternoon.

While in the 2018 elections, after which he entered the upper chamber of the Parliament of the Czech Republic for the first time, he was a candidate on the STAN ticket, this time he was sent by the Civic Democratic Party to fight for a seat in the Valdštejnské Palace in Prague’s Malá Strana, where the Senate of the Czech Republic is located.
